Courtyard Garden, Stoke Bishop, Bristol
The Brief was to create a simple, sophisticated and low maintenance garden that would provide a calm and restorative space away from the stresses of city life. As a professional couple with no children or pets, they wanted a garden that was easy to manage while still offering attractive spaces for outdoor dining and entertaining.
The wish list included a small water feature, architectural planting with subtle flower colours, and a mix of seasonal and evergreen plants, including herbs grown in containers. They were keen to repurpose existing paving, where possible, to reduce costs, improve accessibility throughout the garden, and incorporate a discreet composting area located away from the house. Overall, they sought a stylish and functional outdoor space that balanced visual interest with practicality and year round enjoyment.
